The PLAYroom and Emmanuel Church partner to collect toys for Afghan refugee children The PLAYroom and Emmanuel Church, both on Washington Street, Middleburg, have teamed up to welcome Afghan refugee families who have been living in Loudoun County since March by sending new toys for their children. In addition to donating toys to this drive, the PLAYroom at 108 W. Washington St. is offering a 10% discount on select toys. Emmanuel Church’s office at 104 E. Federal St. (behind the Parish House) is a drop-off site for those wishing to donate new toys for these children. Developmental toys are needed for children up to age 5; toys for children ages 5-10 are also needed. The National Conference Center in Lansdowne has been offering a safe haven to temporarily house Afghan evacuees as part of Operation Allies Welcome since March. Toys should be small enough to fit in suitcases to accompany children to their new homes throughout the United States.

Town UpdatesThe Town of Middleburg has been informed that the construction company for the Residences at Salamander will be conducting additional blasting the week of June 13th. Generally, this will occur in the areas behind Stonewall Avenue, although no specific locations have been shared with the Town at this time. Prior to any blasting, the contractor is required to sound a pre-blast signal (may sound like a siren). Then the blast will occur, and there will be a post-blast signal indicating the explosives detonated properly.
The Loudoun County Fire Marshal regulates all blasting in the County, including in the corporate Town limits, and all of the blasting as part of this project has been properly permitted. If you have questions, concerns, or complaints, please contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 703-777-0637 or at https://www.loudoun.gov/810/Code-Enforcement (click on the “Blasting/Explosives” tab). If you have any emergencies related to the blasting, please call 911. As a reminder...
The Town of Middleburg has been approached by two property owners interested in annexation of their land or portions of their land into the Town through a process formally called a “Boundary Line Adjustment.” Before taking any formal steps, the Town Council feels it is important to present the details of the proposals to the Middleburg community, get input and feedback from residents, and answer any questions.
The Town Council held a Public Information Session on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. The video of the meeting is posted here.
The Mayor's presentation is provided here as a PDF file. We'd also encourage you to download the full PowerPoint presentation to see the animation of maps/graphics (requires Microsoft PowerPoint). Maps presented in the presentation:We encourage public input. You may provide input by:
- Filling out the survey form on this page. - Emailing the Town Clerk - Calling us at 540-687-5152 - Attending a Town Council Meeting (2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 6pm) - there will be a special Public Comment time on each agenda for the next couple of months.
