Pictured above: The Rev. Eugene LeCouteur and PLAYroom owner Michelle McNaughton have teamed to collect toys for displaced children.
The PLAYroom and Emmanuel Church partner to collect toys for Afghan refugee children The PLAYroom and Emmanuel Church, both on Washington Street, Middleburg, have teamed up to welcome Afghan refugee families who have been living in Loudoun County since March by sending new toys for their children. In addition to donating toys to this drive, the PLAYroom at 108 W. Washington St. is offering a 10% discount on select toys. Emmanuel Church’s office at 104 E. Federal St. (behind the Parish House) is a drop-off site for those wishing to donate new toys for these children. Developmental toys are needed for children up to age 5; toys for children ages 5-10 are also needed. The National Conference Center in Lansdowne has been offering a safe haven to temporarily house Afghan evacuees as part of Operation Allies Welcome since March. Toys should be small enough to fit in suitcases to accompany children to their new homes throughout the United States.

Town UpdatesPlease pardon our progress…There are exciting changes in the works for Middleburg! The installation and construction of the Town’s Wayfinding Sign System and Comprehensive Sign Plan will begin the week of June 13th. It will take about two weeks to complete the projects. The crews are scheduled to begin digging footers throughout Town the week of the 13th and the sign installation is scheduled to begin the week of June 20th. There will be temporary lane closures as well as flagging along Washington Street and some parking spaces will be unavailable during the project. For both your safety along with that of the construction crews, please be cautious when traveling throughout Town and designated work zones. The Town appreciates both residents’ and visitors’ patience as these two projects are completed. The end result will be the Town’s enhanced and consolidated signage along with the beautification of the streetscape for all to enjoy.
As a reminder...
The Town of Middleburg has been approached by two property owners interested in annexation of their land or portions of their land into the Town through a process formally called a “Boundary Line Adjustment.” Before taking any formal steps, the Town Council feels it is important to present the details of the proposals to the Middleburg community, get input and feedback from residents, and answer any questions.
The Town Council held a Public Information Session on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. The video of the meeting is posted here.
The Mayor's presentation is provided here as a PDF file. We'd also encourage you to download the full PowerPoint presentation to see the animation of maps/graphics (requires Microsoft PowerPoint). Maps presented in the presentation:We encourage public input. You may provide input by:
- Filling out the survey form on this page. - Emailing the Town Clerk - Calling us at 540-687-5152 - Attending a Town Council Meeting (2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 6pm) - there will be a special Public Comment time on each agenda for the next couple of months.
