Halloween Guidance: Safe Tips for All

Halloween Guidance: Safety for All

Halloween and other fall festivities are going to look and feel quite a bit different than in years past due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we can still find ways to celebrate, have fun and stay safe. The Loudoun County Health Department does not recommend traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating this year because that is considered high risk for COVID-19 transmission for both the trick-or-treater and for the person handing out candy. The Health Department urges anyone who chooses to participate in any Halloween activities this year to follow these safety guidelines:
  • Stay home and away from others if you are sick.
  • Maintain at least six feet of distance between yourself and others who do not live in your household at all times.
  • Wash your hands before going trick-or-treating or handing out candy.
  • Wear a cloth face covering. Halloween costume masks may not provide adequate protection, so cloth face coverings should be worn under costume masks.
  • Hand out candy from a distance.
