Connecting Workforce with Open Jobs

Message from Executive Director Buddy Rizer: As we turn our calendars to April, we continue to adjust to the changing circumstances of the COVID-19 outbreak, and look for opportunities to help our businesses. This morning, our team unveiled a jobs portal that aggregates and filters all positions currently open in Loudoun County. The portal pulls in and de-duplicates listings from more than 10,000 public job boards, providing the comprehensive tool for finding a job in Loudoun County. We also updated our website with information on the Paycheck Protection Program and other funding sources for our businesses. As you assess the resources available, please do not hesitate to call me, or any member of our team, with issues large or small, so we can help you through these tough times.

Middleburg COVID-19 Stimulus Package

We know that it is a very difficult time for residents, businesses, and workers. Now is the time to help each other, check on your aging neighbors, and provide whatever assistance you can to those in need. Please also take necessary precautions and prevention methods to keep yourself and your neighbors healthy.

As a Town, we also recognize a responsibility to help during difficult times. To provide assistance to businesses and residents through these troubling times, the Mayor & Town Council approved a COVID-19 stimulus package.  Below are some of the highlights:

  • The Town has suspended late fees & service disconnects for users of the Town’s water/sewer systems for sixty days (through June 14, 2020)
  • The Town will issue a credit of up to $200 per water/sewer customer, not to exceed the amount of the bill, for the May utility bills (which cover the March/April service period)
  • The Town is deferring the penalty on meals tax payments for restaurants through June 30, 2020.  Restaurants must still file their monthly gross receipts report.  Interest charges will still apply.
  • The Town has donated $8,750 to the Visit Loudoun Foundation, which has established a fund to assist workers in the hospitality industry.  Such workers are encouraged to contact the Foundation to determine what assistance may be available to them. https://communityfoundationlf.org/
  • The Town has donated $4,000 to Seven Loaves Food Bank to help provide food to those in need and $4,000 to Middleburg FISH to help Middleburg area residents with the payment of their rent and utility bills.  Residents in need of such assistance are encouraged to contact those charitable organizations.
  • The Town is working to support restaurants and residents through a meal voucher program.

The Town will continue to evaluate business and resident’s needs throughout these difficult times.  Visit our website at www.middleburgva.gov for the latest information regarding COVID-19 and any assistance that may be available. If you have questions, please contact us during business hours at 540-687-5152.
